This is a result of the railroad being built in the western half as well as scenic views from inclined grounds in the eastern portion. Immigrants find housing more affordable on the west side, which results in demographic differences. Interstate 15 further solidified these divisions. The Utah Museum of Fine Arts, Utah Museum of Natural History, and the Museum of Church History and Art are some of the museums located in Salt Lake City. Other museums include the Utah State Historical Society, Daughters of Utah Pioneer Memorial Museum, Fort Douglas Military Museum, and the Social Hall Heritage Museum. Clark Planetarium at the Gateway Mall houses an IMAX theater. The Utah Arts Festival has been held annually since 1977 with an average attendance of 80,000. A Monday morning storm left little snow but caused major damage on Northern Utah roadways as hundreds of cars crashed during the Monday morning commute, state troopers said.
Most of the 275 to 300 accidents were minor, said Utah Highway Patrol trooper Cameron Roden.
“It was a really busy day,” Roden said. “With the warm early winter people have to get used to driving in snow again. Remember to slow down and leave a little more space.”
There were a few serious crashes: a passenger was thrown fro...

Another battle is forming over paving some iconic, scenic roads around Capitol Reef National Park.
Garfield County told the Utah Transportation Commission on Friday that it may pave a portion of the Notom Road this summer, which runs along the east side of Capitol Reef’s Waterpocket Fold.
That came as an aside while a county official was assuring commissioners that some fund-swapping they approved last month to help the county do design work in preparation for planned paving of the famous Burr T...

When I hear the word Millcreek, the next two words I always say in my head are “odd” “even”. Millcreek is an amazing canyon located east of Salt Lake City along the Wasatch Mountains. Millcreek is the laid back cousin to Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons. This canyon is not part of our watershed and [...]
1) Sellers Paid Too Much Despite the bank taking a loss, there is little to no equity in the property for the new buyer. The buyer loses a chance at gaining equity because the bank has taken a loss even greater than what the seller was short. The bank has to approve a price that [...]
Are Utah Short Sales Better Deals Than Foreclosures? Waiting for an answer on a short sale can be frustrating. A short sale happens when a seller’s lender agrees to accept less than its unpaid mortgage balance to facilitate a sale between the seller and buyer, and banks take a long time to decide. Some short [...]
Are You Selling Your Home in 2012? In 2011, the number of people using real estate agents to buy or sell their home was at an all-time high. The number of sellers that “Sold by Owner” was also at it lowest percentage in decades. Why? Because selling a home is more than putting a sign [...]
The banks are selling homes in Utah faster than they can foreclose. Utah foreclosures do not stay at one price for very long. Not all foreclosures are great deals, but if you know what to watch for and when to make a move, you can strike gold. Homes that have granite, new carpet, fresh paint [...]
